"Rich Woman"

The play "Rich Woman" is about the dominance of great wealth over human morality and family values. The characters in the play, upon receiving sudden and unexpected news, not only gain financial freedom but also willingly surrender to moral ugliness.

Hevva Zerlinkaya and Professor Gara live with a sense of material deprivation. Domestic troubles have eroded their mutual respect, and their arguments often create comedic situations. Their only child refuses to accept this situation and develops an indifferent attitude toward the parents and the world in general.

But the sudden news doesn't take long to arrive. At the moment of Hevva's attempted suicide, there’s a knock at the door. A lawyer informs her that a relative who died abroad has left his entire fortune to her. However, to legally claim the inheritance, Hevva must divorce and remarry a man from the deceased relative's lineage.

The play is a comedy directed by Behram Osmanov, Honored Art Worker of both the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kalmykia.
