The play Emma, based on Jane Austen’s famous novel, combines refined humor, keen observation of human character, and timeless questions of relationships. On stage comes alive a world where wit coexists with naivety, and pride with genuine affection.
At the heart of the story is Emma Woodhouse – a beautiful, intelligent, and wealthy heiress, confident in her right to shape the destinies of those around her. Her passion for matchmaking turns the lives of her friends and neighbors into a kaleidoscope of comic and dramatic situations. Yet this seemingly “harmless” pastime becomes a trial that exposes her mistakes and compels her to face herself.
The production emphasizes the deep psychological foundation of the work: pride and vanity turn into a lesson of maturity, and true love becomes possible only when the masks fall away.
