On November 14, legendary tenor Plácido Domingo will give a concert at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku.

Over his more than half-century-long musical career, Plácido Domingo has performed more than 150 major opera roles on the world’s most renowned stages. Domingo is also known as a conductor. His repertoire includes over 100 full-length operas, solo recordings, and duets. He has opened the season of the famous Metropolitan Opera numerous times, even breaking the long-standing record of the renowned opera singer Caruso.

In 1969, the 28-year-old tenor conquered both European and American opera stages. Plácido Domingo has performed in New York, Paris, Verona, Vienna, Milan, Munich, Hamburg, Seoul, Buenos Aires, and many other iconic venues. His duet with Montserrat Caballé is considered one of the most popular duets in the world.

Many of Domingo’s music albums have sold millions of copies. He is a nine-time Grammy Award winner, a three-time Latin Grammy winner, and a recipient of many other honors. His name is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the performer who received the longest applause in history—after a performance of Otello in Vienna in 1991, the audience applauded him for 80 minutes.
