Gobustan National Historical and Artistic Reserve is one of Azerbaijan’s most significant historical and cultural heritage sites. Located about 60 km southwest of Baku, it is renowned for its ancient human settlements, rock carvings (petroglyphs), burial mounds, and archaeological discoveries.
The reserve contains over 6,000 rock engravings dating from the Paleolithic era to the Middle Ages, depicting scenes of daily life, hunting, religious rituals, and the relationship between humans and nature.
Gobustan is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famous for its unique mud volcanoes.
