Shikhali Gurbanov — “Without You”
The play “Without You” tells the story of those who fell victim to the dark repressions of 1937, people torn away from their families and lives — focusing on the life of Tarlan and Sevinc.
Tarlan spends 18 years in exile, enduring immense suffering. Yet, he is not the only one who suffers; Sevinc, who waits for him all these years, bears the same pain.
When Sevinc finally receives the news of Tarlan’s innocence, she embarks on a journey to find him — determined to bring him back, dead or alive.
This decision proves that for Sevinc, no other life, no other happiness, and no other family could ever replace Tarlan.
Separated from Sevinc on their wedding night, Tarlan returns after 18 years. All he wants is to catch a glimpse of her from afar.
However, believing Sevinc to be happily involved with Farhad, he chooses to step back silently, without revealing his identity.
Before leaving, Tarlan hands Farhad the results of his geological research on the “Kichiktepe” site — research he carried with him throughout his years in exile.
This discovery brings Farhad fame on a national scale, but he cannot bear the weight of this undeserved glory.
In the end, however, justice prevails — albeit too late.
The director of the play is Nihad Gulamzade.
