The musical drama “Gulchohra and Asgar” is a powerful and thought-provoking continuation of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s classic work “Arshin mal alan”, known for its happy ending.
Set during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic era, the play portrays the political and social upheavals of that time, especially the devastating impact of the Bolshevik invasion on the country’s fate.

Through the tragic destinies of Asgar and Gulchohra, the production vividly reflects the spirit of an entire epoch.
Asgar’s years of hardship in Siberia and Gulchohra’s endless waiting in despair form not only a story of unfulfilled love, but also a poetic chronicle of a nation’s enduring strength, memory, and unbreakable will.
