The concert of the Ancient Musical Instruments Ensemble of the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of People’s Artist, Professor, founder, and artistic director of the ensemble, Majnun Karimov.
In 1991, Majnun Karimov established the scientific laboratory “Restoration and Improvement of Ancient Musical Instruments” at the Baku Music Academy, where he restored more than ten of our ancient musical instruments. In 1996, he founded an ensemble under the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture, composed of these restored instruments.
The concert will feature an evening of music performed by the ensemble, including mugham pieces and ancient folk songs of Azerbaijan.
