During the evening, Ashraf Ashrafzade’s student, renowned clarinetist Alirza Orujov, People’s Artist Vamiq Mammadaliyev, Professor Abbasgulu Najafzade, and ethnographer-scholar Tavakkul Salimov will share their thoughts on the life and creative work of Ashraf Ashrafzade.
Ashraf Ashrafzade, who studied at the Asaf Zeynalli Music College, was recognized and admired as a professional musician in the 1960s despite his young age. The artist, who left a lasting impression in people’s memories, earned great respect and affection, and is still fondly remembered today. The clarinet performer, who passed away in 1973, composed musical pieces such as “Hayati (Shuvalani),” “Fikreti,” “Tamili,” “Yadigari,” and “Murshidi.” These melodies continue to be performed with great enthusiasm at public celebrations and remain a staple in the repertoire of many musicians.
During the memorial evening, performers will present an engaging program featuring unforgettable pieces from the artist’s repertoire, as well as traditional Azerbaijani folk and dance tunes.
It should be noted that the International Mugham Center regularly organizes events dedicated to the memory of outstanding mugham performers and artists who have made significant contributions to Azerbaijani music. To date, the Center has honored not only renowned khanandas but also distinguished representatives of the instrumental performance school.
