One stage, two voices, and eternal love: “Shabi Hicran”

People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, the pinnacle of Azerbaijani mugham, Alim Gasimov, and his artistic successor, Honored Artist Fargana Gasimova, present the mugham composition “Shabi Hicran” — a love song of two souls, whole separately and eternal in separation, based on the classic literary work “Leyli and Majnun.” The production is directed by Honored Art Workers Hafiz Guliyev and Bahruz Vagifoglu.

The musical performance will take place on November 26 at the Heydar Aliyev Palace. On stage, Alim Gasimov and Fargana Gasimova will bring to life the immortal work of Fuzuli, “Leyli and Majnun,” together with actor Javad Nur and actress Jale Novruzova, blending the subtleties of mugham and poetry. Accompanied by the Karabakh Orchestra under the artistic direction of Honored Artist Nargiz Aliyeva, the evening promises to be an unforgettable artistic event for mugham enthusiasts, as well as literature and theater lovers. Alim Gasimov and Fargana Gasimova will be accompanied by Zaki Valiyev on tar, Honored Artist Rauf Islamov on kamancha, Rafael Askerov on wind instruments, and Javidan Nabiyev on percussion.
